Today we learn't some more te reo. We had to get an ipod and look up some maaori words that were objects around the class. We're now going to put them on labels so then we can put  them on the wall and start learning what they mean and use them speaking te reo. My favourite thing was when I looked up the words because I was really interested in seeing what they mean and how to translate them. By Rio

Megan and i went outside and did some photography and went around the school. First we went to the community garden and met some really nice people and they said we can take photos of the pretty flowers. Also a man took us for a tour of the garden and told us about the plants and flowers. To make them look awesome up close we had to put the camera right up to the flower and take the picture and they looked GREAT!!! By Briar.

Week 5: L.I.F.E
For our L.I.F.E inquiry this week we have been identifying the causes of endangered animals. We found this information using our prior knowledge and the internet. We worked in pairs then brought our findings together. We have used ‘cause-effect’ diagrams to show our thinking.
One of the causes of endangered animals is poaching and hunting so we took a look at some pictures of controversial hunting . . .
Some of these pictures were legal, but we have been using human continuums to decide if it is right or not.
We used deBono's Red Hat Thinking, the emotions, when looking at some photos of hunting.  We used 'wordle' to display our emotions as a class. Wordle allowed us to make the most frequent words used, the largest. Here are some of our immediate thoughts after viewing pictures of legally hunted endangered African Elephants:

We have been learning poetry. It has been awesome. One of our favorites is the haiku poem. It has 3 lines in the poem. It has 5 syllables in the first line.It has 7 syllables in the second line. And in the last line there are 5 syllables. I hope you enjoy them. By Daniel and harry

L.I.F.E - How our life impacts on future Earth
For our L.I.F.E inquiry focus this term, our class is learning about the causes, effects and sub-effects of endangered animal species on Earth.

We have been identifying endangered species around the world. Today we used laptops and atlas's to search for information. We have been shocked at the high number of animals there are that are endangered
