Today is the last day of term 2. So Miss Tame organised a challenge for us. First we got an envelope with 5 clues. We had to go around the school and look for the answers.Once we did that we had to go back to class and see Miss Tame. Then we put all the answers together and we figured out what it said and we decided that it was under the group table. And under the group table was a bag of different kinds of chocolates. Also Miss Tame brought a bottle of milk,sugar,marshmallows and milo to make a hot chocolate also Joshua and Daniel brought Miss Tame a box of cappuccinos and in the box it has powdered chocolate which we put on the hot chocolates. So we had hot chocolates and the chocolates we got from the challenge and it has been a great way to end the awesome term. Hot chocolates YUM...

Maths today was fun because it was miss tame's last maths session with us . it is the end of the term soon and miss sandford is teaching us tomorrow and we don't have maths on the last day.we did quick quiz and the we did this code and we had to do it so we could see who is the code champion to studio14 maths class and the champion was seth.The code was well done you are the code master! Then we played 21. if you don't know how to play that you get in a circle and then you can say 1,2 or 3 numbers. If you are 21 or you are 20 and then you say 21 you are out. Maori/Technology

On June the 25th, studio 14 did Maori/Technology (let's just call it MT) and like all other times, enjoyed it. For MT, we had a situation, which was that we caught flounder, and crayfish, and also fish, but had now way of carrying it all. Or do we... We had to put together an object that would hold all the fish to take home. But there were no elements to use. Or were there... We used 4 little skewers, 3 sheets of newspaper, 2 rubber bands, and one roll of yellow sellotape. Now some people made baskets, and some platforms. We also had 11 minutes to make the basket or platform. So when time down to 15 seconds, everyone was screaming. Then we had to walk across the room without it breaking. 2 failed, but 3 made the cut. In the end those 3 also tied first place with a huge amount of ten school dictionaries, 2 encyclopedias, and Miss Tames drink bottle. She put it on because if the bottle fell they are out. We learnt about the strength of material that platforms are better than baskets and to share our ideas. The best part in MT was basically all of it!

MathI go to Mr.Whitley to do math.and I enjoy doing timetable I learnt my 3times. I feel comtive now knowing my timetable.
It is really easy doing my 10times always being good at math now. I help others with their maths. I am getting faster at my basic fact in studio 14. By Ruby

Calligrams

As Megan said, we have been creating calligrams for L.I.F.E. Here are some examples!

Colgate

This term we have been collecting colgate boxs to win $12500 of sports things.

We have also been collecting them to win a movie with drink and food for the class. Thats our school competition.

Some of us have been door nocking ,brushing our teeth over and over,sneeking them in the the shopping baskets and asking friends and family

Some Term 2 Reflections


Yellow Hat Thinking: Some thing i am looking forward to next term is swat, life, fitness, PE, basic facts, and novel. Because life is very fun. Swat is fun fitness is challenging and fun. PE is fantastic.Basic facts is fun.And novel is interesting and a great book.By Megan Harris


Thinking Tools used this term: I used the habit of the mind called "that's funny" when my class-mates harry,rio and me did a funny dance. Olso when I had a new idea when I was playing Thursday sport in hagley park/Christchurch's central park I  tried to use a new move I made up and it somehow worked. I haved seen heaps of children using their persistence at interval and lunch time like a year one kid was trying to do the monkey bars for the first time and by the next day they could do it easily!                                                                 By Kobe Forrester studio 14




Yellow Hat Thinking: I have made some new friends. Doing art. I like doing L.I.F.E because you can find out new things you didnt know. I like doing reading because I like to read. This term some of my favourite things have been SWAT,Fitness,Math Interchange because My math teacher is Ms tainui,and my other favourite  things is basic facts  because i always finish first,and also getting subway every thursday.Since the start of the year i have made a couple of new friends like Tristan,Kyla,Logan and yasin. On February 15 2012 studios 13,14,and 15 went to camp at woodend christan camp.My Favourite thing at camp was mini golf and    aero jump.Now its time for me to go outside to play!

This term i enjoyed art with miss Duxfield. Anther thing i  enjoyed was fitness. My favourite game was capture the flag with studio 15.If you didn't know are school is doing the    colgate comp.The studio who asked our principal decided that we will have a junior competition and a senior competition. Whoever wins each comp wins a new release movie with treats. We are in the lead for the senior competition and studio 9 is in the junior lead. By Kealy

last wednesday i went to cross country and i felt happy to make it that far and i got 77 out of 122. by Sarah

Disco

On thursday last week we had a year 5 to 8 disco.
The people who went manage them selfs and had a great time we got lots of feedback from the teachers and parents that we were polite when buying food. Sam Plows from studio 14 was rocking her head off on the last song she went up on her proper toes and she pulled her arms back.

Life was really fun and creative because we got to make our own calligrams and we created a word using words. A calligram is a word made out of a bunch of words. The word we used was LIFE.

Life Education

This week studio 14 went to the life education caravan to learn about our body. We had to help Harold with his 4 homework tasks.
Task 1:
Find out the 3 things we need to survive.
Answer: Food, Water and Oxygen.
Task 2:
Name 3 body systems.
Answer:Digestive, Respiratory and Circulatory.
Task 3:
Find out about the liver
Answer:The liver has over 500 jobs, including storing vitamins and minerals, breaking down chemicals, poisons and fats, warming the blood and sorting food.
Task 4:
Name 3 places food come from.
Answer:The ground, animals and man-made recourses.

L.I.F.E continues . . . 

At the moment we are working in groups to describe an endangered animal habitat.Harry and I are learning about the maui dolphin.One of the reasons this fabulous dolphin has became endangered is that there is competition between others for food. Harry and I feel absolutely  shocked for whats happenning to these dolphins.We have been thinking of ways to stop them from fighting but we can't. We've also been EEKKing[Eye to Eye Knee to Kneeing] because we are working on co operative learning which means working together. We hope to find out some solutions to stop some other ways of them getting hurt this means we need to put on our green thinking hats.

Monday's Statistics

For maths today we started statistics and we had to predict what miss tame was holding up with Brooklyn. She was holding up a long peace of rope. Harry and Robin predicted that it was the 8.9 metre long jump record. For our first investigation we started with asking questions. Miss Tame asked how far can studio 14 math class students jump from two legs. We then had to gather data. We all jumped and we measured where we got too. We rounded each one to the nearest set of ten. Malachi got the best jump recording a jump of 1.80m and Harry jumped 1.70m. We recorded all of the people that jumped.Then some of the people had a jump off. Tomorrow we are going to sort the data with telly marks and make a graph. Today the best thing was jumping and getting 1 metre.

Snow Snaps

As Kobe mentioned, we have had lots of snow in Christchurch! We were glad to be back at school today. Everybody had lots of interesting snow stories to share. Studio 14 snuck out this morning for some fun while the sun was shining . . . 

SNOW BLIZZARD HITS CHRISTCHURCH

On the 6th of june 2012 Christchurch , New Zealand got hit by a MASSIVE SNOW BLIZZARD! It snowed for nearly 9 hours non-stop AMAZING. The snow was up to 20cm high and very THICK. It snowed a little in Dunedin way up north to the capitol Wellington. Heaps of kids were making snowmen,going down hills on sleds and having snowball fights. Since Christchurch had those annoying earthquakes the snow was a real effect to the damage. In New Zealand winter is in June,July to August. We only had school for two days Tuesday and Friday we didn’t have school on monday because of the Queens Birthday weekend. NZ is a very small place so that’s why most of it got covered in very cold snow. The best thing about today was playing in the snow! We all have our snow gear on and thanks for reading.
